The Friends of Allestree Park are pleased to announce that we have been awarded a Derby City Council WildDerby grant of £500, which has been used to purchase some much-needed bat roosting boxes and bird nest-boxes for the Park
12 wooden bat boxes and 41 wooden bird nest-boxes, with varying entrance hole diameters to suit different species, have been made by the Derbyshire Probation Pay-back Service. 6 additional heavy-duty commercially made, 'woodcrete' bat boxes have also been obtained, which should last much longer than the wooden ones.
The boxes will soon be erected at various sites within the Park.
